Immigration Focus

January 28, 2025

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI), along with several campus departments, including the Dean of Students, is releasing information for students, faculty, and staff regarding potential interactions on campus with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials. This information is intended to inform employees and students about the University’s compliance obligations, as well as the rights of students, faculty, and staff.

The wellbeing of the Redbird community is our priority. We continue to closely monitor developments concerning immigration at the federal and state levels and will provide updates as appropriate.

As a reminder, we are launching the spring calendar for our ISU in Conversation series with an open forum related to this topic. Events are scheduled for January 28 and 29.

In addition, the University offers counseling and support services for those who may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed during this time. Students may contact Student Counseling Services at (309) 438-3655 for support, with additional resources available through RedbirdWell. Faculty and staff may access support resources through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by calling at (833) 955-3400.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the OEI at (309) 438-3511.

Sincerely,

Byron Craig, Ph.D.
Interim Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer
